Eagle
Nest
Only 300 people live in this windswept town near Taos that gives visitors
an insight into small-town life in the high plains. Serves as an economical
base from which to hike, fish, snowmobile and ski in the surrounding mountains.
Earthships
The brainchild of architect Michael Reynolds using used automobile tires
and cans pounded with dirt to build naturally efficient dwellings. The
“Earthships” are buried on three sides with earth and are
designed to heat and cool themselves while producing their own electricity
and catching their own water.
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge
The second highest suspension bridge in America spanning 500 feet across
and 650 feet above the Rio Grande River below. The views across the Taos
Plateau and jagged walls of the river are spectacular.
Carson
National Forest
Over 1.5 million acres of southwest scenery rising from 6,000 feet to
over 13,000 feet of elevation. This is peace and quiet within nature,
